Tattoo Aftercare

Yay! You have a brand new tattoo!! We will now go over what to do to ensure that your tattoo heals well!

After every session, I always seal the art work with second skin.  Second skin allows the tattoo to keep moist and breath, it also protects your skin from infection and contamination while you go about your day. And most of all, it allows you to shower!! Yay!

My aftercare is fairly simple and because of that, 95% of my clients do not require any touch ups at all.

Let’s go through some dos and don’ts!

Second skin Healing

Second skin is great! It allows you to shower normally, and move around more freely.

Leave it on for 4 days.

It is totally normal if you find an ink pouch inside the second skin. The liquid is not ink coming out, but your skin’s production of lymph. It is a clear liquid mixed with the surface ink, and it does not affect the tattoo, so don’t worry.

On the 3rd day, you will find the liquid has dried, and the tattoo underneath the bandage looks blurry or spread with ink. Don’t worry, once the saniderm comes off, and you give it a good wipe, the tattoo will be clear again.

Only take it off early if its itching alot on the sides of the bandage. Try to at least have it on for 2 days.

If you have to take it off early, gently wash the tattoo with gentle, unscented soap. Pad dry and keep it moist with aftercare lotion.

Lotion can be coconut oil, aquaphor, hustle butter or tattoo goo. Most can be found on drug stores or amazon. DO NOT USE Polysporin.

Keep tattoo moist until all peeling stops, about 2-4 weeks depending on size of the piece and skin.

Don'ts

2 weeks

Avoid swimming in pools or lakes, or bath. Shower is ok.

10 Days

Avoid heavy sun exposure for 10 days. After 10 days, please put on sunscreen. It will help keep color vibrant.

During Peeling

No scratching or picking of scab. Put on cream when its itchy or smack it! Hah.
